The Promise of Great Things

The people of God were held in captivity for the longest time, but a promise was made that God would deliver them. The Babylonians had the Israelites in this captivity for seventy years. After seventy years, God stayed true to His promise and freed the people.

The Israelites had a reason to celebrate, and so do we. Although we may not have been in captivity for many years, we can still celebrate the great things God has done for us.

This spring, we celebrate the great things God has done and will do. During the spring, many amazing stories of God’s faithfulness at our Bible distributions have happened. God's faithfulness has been apparent from children receiving their first Bibles to surrendering their lives to Jesus.

This spring will be no different. As we gear up for something spectacular, we need to take a moment to reflect on some of the great things God has done for His children.

  1. He Sent His Son Jesus. John 3:16 (NIV) says, “ For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.” God sent His Son Jesus to pay the penalty of sin that we could never pay back. We needed a perfect Savior to die on the cross and save us from our sins. Jesus rose three days later, proving He is God's Son.

  2. He Knows Us. 1 Corinthians 8:3 (NIV) says, “But whoever loves God is known by God.” Paul, writing to the Corinthians, reminds them that those who love God are known by Him. God not only knows our names but also everything about us. He knows the good and bad and still loves us. God calls us His own.

  3. He Forgives Us. Daniel 9:9 (NIV) says, “The Lord our God is merciful and forgiving, even though we have rebelled against him.” Daniel reads about the end of the Israelites' exile. He begins to pray for restoration for the people and is thankful for God’s mercies and forgiveness. God cannot approve of sin, but His grace may delay the judgment that will eventually come.

We are expecting great things this spring because of the great God we serve. We are thankful for the great things He has already done. We are reminded every day of His wonderful mercies and how God loves His children. We hope the children who receive Bibles this spring will experience God is spectacularness.
